The Ziegler Aureum 1865 is an exceptional 5-year-old single malt whisky from the traditional Ziegler distillery in Baden-Württemberg. Its special character results from the multi-stage cask ageing process, in which rare chestnut casks are used, among other things.

Tradition meets innovation - 150 years of distilling art from Ziegler

The Ziegler distillery looks back on 150 years of company history and has been producing fine brandies and liqueurs since 1865. With the Aureum 1865, Ziegler is now entering the world of whisky, combining many years of distilling art with the latest barrel technology. The basic material for this whisky is fine malt of the special barley variety Catameran from regional cultivation. The mash is then distilled in the distillery according to special specifications.

The exceptional cask ageing gives the whisky its character.

After distillation, the new whisky is first matured for 5 years in barrels made of European sweet chestnut. This rare type of wood gives the Aureum 1865 a special sweet note and its mild character. Subsequently, the whisky is matured in former bourbon casks, which add further nuances to the whisky. The result is a complex and harmonious taste with fruity and malty aromas.

A symphony of balanced flavours

The Aureum 1865 convinces with its complexity and balanced variety of aromas. One discovers notes of chestnuts, caramel, lemon tart and pears. These are joined by floral tones and a hint of grass and woodruff. On the palate, the whisky is fine and smooth with a perfect balance between sweet and dry notes and a creamy texture. The long finish rounds off the pleasure harmoniously.
