The Ferrand Pierre Cognac 10 Generations Limited Edition Port Wine Cask Finish is a special edition limited to 12,000 bottles of the popular 10 Generations Cognac by Ferrand. This cognac was first matured in French oak casks and then post-matured in used port wine casks. The post-maturation in port wine barrels gives the cognac additional notes of sultanas, cinnamon, orange peel and dark chocolate. The Cognac comes from the renowned Grande Champagne region, the Premier Cru of Cognac, and is made from Ugni Blanc grapes. The mineral chalk soils and the maritime climate provide fine and floral eaux-de-vie, which form the basis for this complex cognac. On the nose, the cognac is floral and fruity with notes of dried fruits, honey and spices. The palate is velvety and creamy with flavours of sultanas, plums, orange peel, dark chocolate and cloves. The finish is long-lasting with notes of dried fruits and spices. The elaborate bottle is adorned with a golden family tree, symbolising the 10 generations of the Cognac-making family.
